Dental implants are surgical-grade replacement tooth roots. Once the implant has fused to the jaw, a crown is mounted on the implant. Unlike bridges or dentures, can be permanently fixed to the jaw bone, giving the appearance and feel of a natural tooth. Dental implants are a good choice for someone who lost one or more teeth due to injury, periodontal disease, or some other cause.
First visit: Evaluation
The first visit takes about one hour
If surgery can be performed, there will be two days between the first and second visit
Second visit: Surgical placement
This visit will take about one hour
After surgery, there is a two to three-month period for healing.
Third visit: Permanent crown placement
Depending on the material required, the permanent crown can be made the same day or will require an additional visit.
If the crown can be made the same day, the visit will take about four hours: Less than one hour for the scan, a two to three-hour waiting period, then less than one hour for cementing the crown.
Fourth visit: Permanent crown placement
If the crown could not be made the same day due to the material required, this fourth and final visit would be necessary.
This visit will take less than one hour
